Iain MacDonald
Iain has been working as a geotechnical engineer since 2001, working for 10 years in major multi-disciplinary consultancies, before going it alone providing freelance geotechnical services to the construction industry. In May 2021, Iain set up IMG Engineering Ltd, to provide Geotechnical Consultancy services to the wider industry.
Over the past 20years, Iain has worked on a variety of schemes from small residential developments to huge commercial and infrastructure projects. Iain has also been involved in the management of both Rail and Highway assets and is very familiar with both Network Rail and Highways England Standards. Whilst the vast majority of Iain’s experience is UK based, Iain has had the opportunity to work on a number of overseas projects which have included, Khalifa Port Industrial Zone development, World Islands (Dubai), various high rise tower developments in Dubal along with the Taiwan High Speed Rail projects.
In his spare time, Iain is very active with his dogs, enjoying hill walking and competing across the country at dog agility.
